Can someone tell me why the DIMA website locks up on my PC for a week when I'm editing my collection? But if I create a hotspot with my phone and connect it to the PC, it works again...

Try either a different browser or incognito/inprivate window on your browser and see if anything changes. If you said it works on your hotspot it might just be your home internet or some sort of setting in your router/firewall.

My collection was still there intact after I signed up.

As a non-regular user, I partially noticed the drama, but didn't follow it, so missed the termination notice regarding collections as probably a bunch of people did. Question: If I now sign up for the subscription, would my old collection still be gone and unrecoverable?

Great idea. There should also be cheaper options for less affluent users.

How about a free version with minimal information (per model), and a paid version with full information and pics? Again, similar to FR24

Hi, nice to see we have the option to have dima back - that is great. 99USD is a bit pushy, so i have a question/Suggestion, similar to Flightradar etc.
If people 'help' i.e. upload fotos, correct informations - in general, help to maintain and improve the DB - couldn't there b some kind of reward system be implemented? For example, if i upload a missing Foto i get 1 credit (if it is approved and correct of course). Or i add a missing model, 5 credits... etc.
And then we could use credits to pay the annual fee? For example 1 credit is worth 1 USD in fee, so anyone who would get 99 credits would have free access one year? Of course you could also put up a maximum of 50% or something...

If you already used DIMA before it was locked, then you already know what it offers (I'm in and it's still the same). If you think that other place offers the same thing as DIMA, then you just have to make a decision. If money is the deciding factor, then the decision is simple.

I'm not a lawyer, but read the fine print at the bottom of this page. Some could argue that it was more than "bad form".

Oh I don't know. Being able to create a website that someone wanted to create but it required some "bad form" actions to create is a form of gain, no? Maybe that other site is a free site for right now. The moment that site becomes something other than free, sometime in the distant future when most of us have forgotten about this episode, I'm sure there will be at least one person who hadn't forgotten and will be sure to get a cut of the financial reaping plus other mandatory fees.

Now since this is a paid service, will subscribers be treated as customers? In particular, will model submissions be considered in a timely fashion? In some cases in the past, it felt like one had to beg repeatedly for many months, and sometimes years.

That free site exists because they scraped data off of Dima and copied everything. Even down to small things we noticed. Someone else is trying to take waffles years of effort for self-gain. Sad really.

Maybe I'm just too old now. I really don't have the time or the motivation to start all over on another site. I've grown so accustomed to Waffle's photo formats too I guess. My collection is still there and my wish list is still there. 90 some bucks per year is just a little over filling a full tank of gas in my SUV. I checked out that other free site. Can't place my finger on exactly why I don't care for it. Maybe someone else can define what it is about that other site that rubs me the wrong way.
