I have about 120-130 in 1/400 at any given time and try and keep it in that range. There's a bunch of models that, while I liked them at one point, no longer want a particular airline or that particular model anymore. I also keep about 30-40 more to sell off later as collectibles, and in return use that money to buy collectibles that I want.

      881 models in 1:400 scale
      075 models in 1:200 scale (all die-cast)
      956 total

I wouldn't sell off any models to reduce the size of your collection unless you are getting bored with some of the Airline Liveries in particular. Even then, make certain that you won't have any regrets later on. Also, don't sell off any of the rarest one's in your collection because someone just capitalised big time like the 5 Star Tap Air Portugal 747-282B (only 320 units produced) that sold for $1,525.00 US back on January 13th ...
        http://www.ebay.com/itm/TAP-Air-Port...item35c3430034
...the market is now flooded on Ebay with a few people having already posted their 5 Star TAP 747-282B trying to make out like a bandit. Problem is that there are too many available to incite a bidding war on any of them currently listed.

Although I'm 99% done w/ 1/400 I am not selling off liveries that i can't get in 1/200, but am selling off models that i purchased on impulse such as US airways & a handful of others. I'm really surprised how many larger scales are produced given how much the cost & space they take up.

I'll reach 600 1:400 models next month (my collection started just 3 years ago)! Most of them came from Waffle and ADAMJets (unfortunately I've been buying less models now than I've used to buy two or three years ago - since last year, Brazilian customs is taxing ALL parcels with 3 or more models). There's about 125 (not including future releases) models to complete my collection.

I'm still limiting my 1:200 collection to brazilian and portuguese classic propliners (such as VARIG and TAP Connies) and aircraft I had flown (my current 1:200 collection includes VARIG DC-3, L1049, L-188 and CV-240, VASP YS-11 and TAP B707), otherwise I'll break soon (and there's no room for a large 1:200 collection)! LOL

Just acquired number 894...and if combined with my 1:200 die-cast collection (86 models), I now total 980 die-cast models en total...and growing. Should hit the 1,000th mark by August or September.

Did you hit it before the year ended?

Started collecting 1/400 scale 747's back in 2010. I told myself I would stick to collecting only one airframe, It did not happen. I began collecting 777-300er's in the same scale a few weeks ago. Close to reaching the #200 model mark soon!

32 models in 1:400 scale. Started my collection in 2006 when I purchased my first Geminijets (Qantas 767-300ER Socceroos livery). I held off until last year from buying too many, but literally between Sept of 2012 until now I've added 30 jets to my collection. My 33rd jet just got ordered today! British Airways 777-300ER (GJBAW1237). My collection has about 10 767's and the only models I have yet to add are the A340, A320, A380 and my favorite the 747-8i

And to be honest even with a son on the way I will continue collecting, and heck get my son into collecting as well (when he's old enough of coarse). This is an addiction that I love, because no matter what I get I'm not going to look back and be "well maybe I should've bought this one instead" all my jets are my favorite jets.
