Hi, My name is Eugene.
I am currently addicted to buying model airplanes which have a connection to African airlines. (1:400 and 1:200 mostly) Official Panic buyer (when funds permit). I might also stray sometimes when a model appears which I really fancy, but I try (emphasis on 'Try') not to stray outside my criteria as I realize that would be a 'dark' and endless money pit. ;-)
Addicted? I must confess that the answer is "Yes". Why else would one go to bed thinking about what you might purchase next on your wishlist, which just seems to keep growing?
Oh well, it keeps me alive as I keep on thinking about what is next in the pipeline. :-)
I am sure there are more with similar views out there. Good luck guys (and gals)! It's everyone for himself it seems.
Although there is no prizes to be won, it is still so tempting to reach an elusive goal. One can NEVER, ever have a 'complete' collection.
A difficult part for me is a collection sale with models I have been searching for and no means to obtain it until the next paycheck by which time the model is most likely to be gone. :-(
I console myself with "There must be another one some time in the future". I try to view life optimistically.
Happy collecting to my fellow toy airplane collectors. :P
Just acquired number 894...and if combined with my 1:200 die-cast collection (86 models), I now total 980 die-cast models en total...and growing. Should hit the 1,000th mark by August or September.
Yes and no ... I had hoped to acquire 1,000 1:400 Scale models by years end, only made it to 934 as I became preoccupied with my 1:200 collection. Combining both 1:400 (934) and 1:200 (116) scale models, I made it to 1,050 models.
More likely this year as the Model Manufacturers are really cranking out the missing coveted pieces to my collections, already up to 948 1:400 and 135 1:200. Probably will start selling off some of my 1:400 scale in a years time ... thinking of keeping primarily most of the vintage era liveries (those with an actual cheat-line/1960's thru 1990) and eliminate those liveries after 1995 (primarily Euro-white liveries) that have little character to them (IMO).

Actually, I do have my entire collection of 1:200 and 1:400 listed under "DeltaFlyte" in the "Collect" section of the forum here on DiMA (and Wings 900). Look up "DeltaFlyte" under "Other Collections" Under "D" of "Page 2"...all but one model are listed, just waiting for the missing model to become listed before I can catalog it. As to posting photos of my collection in a forum, hadn't had the time to do it. Busy Renovating/Restoring the house I live in. Don't really recommend doing so (living in it while doing renovations).

message heard loud & clear. I would assume the increase in "dust" alone would be too much for me to stand. I hope it turns out good, i passed long time ago & owning a home as it doesn't seem to be a priority for me. even now i could get a home reasonably easy, yet no desire to put things in order to do it. I guess not having a family takes away a large need of owning of home. The money doesn't matter either, since i'm spent so much on toy collection i.e. models.
Have you considered getting the DiMA signature thingy like mine? I'll look for your collection now....
Four months later I'm up by 17 planes to 140.. Just got a DC-3 in today from Waffle.
I feel like I'm slowing down a lot. I've started to branch out a little bit into some military a/c.. most recently a C-130 and a C-17.. (I'm waiting for GJ to issue a "Travis AFB" C-5M). I also plan to add some more of the new generation 787s and A350s, the latter as soon we get a regular livery for it. If Aeroclassics ever does a Buffalo or Everts C-46 I would preorder that too.
I definitely running out of ideas though.. Mostly I've spent time working on building airport dioramas and photographing them.
Another 20 models by year end, i.e., 5 per month? I'd like to be under that number, but I could live with it too.. In addition to the above mentioned I'd probably be interested in any A319/320/321 with sharklets plus any Embraers (or other regionals) that fit my collecting criteria. So, maybe there is potential for another 20 models..
Once football kicks off and the holidays start gearing up I get pretty busy. (Football I love, the latter I could do without..)
Anyhow, what I really, really, need is *more time* to enjoy the models I already have..
