As I mentioned in the JAL post Caravelles have sometimes been used on long-haul flights and one of the airlines to do so was Lan Chile. Far from the dominant pan-South American airline that LATAM is today Lan Chile in the 60s had much more limited means and its first jets were a trio of Caravelles:
