For the 2018 Airshow Season, the RCAF CF-18 Demo Team celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

CF-18 Hornet 188776 was chosen to receive the spectacular special blue paint scheme to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of NORAD. It was piloted by Captain Stefan "Porcelain" Porteous, a ten year veteran. NORAD’s motto - "We Have the Watch."

This aircraft performed at Airshows across Canada and the United States. In honour of the RAF’s 100th Anniversary this CF-18 performed at the International Air Tattoo in the U.K. where the aircraft won the “Best Paint Job” award.

This model is the seventh Canadian CF-18 released by Hobby Master and is still the most accurate F/A-18 Die-cast tooling currently available.

There have been a few improvements/corrections to the model since the Pre Production photos were first revealed on Hawkone’’’s website (hobbymastercollector.com) a couple of months ago. I had an advanced look at the images and suggested a few corrections to Hobby Master that fortunately were acted upon.

First of all, the GPS dome/antenna behind the cockpit was originally absent and has been added. The positioning of the numbers “776” on the forward fuselage has been lowered to the correct position. The IFF “Bird Slicer”antennas on top of the nose have been correctly painted grey compared to blue on the Pre Production model. The false canopy underneath the cockpit has been extended further forward. Finally, the red trim along the edges of the gear doors has reappeared after being omitted on the Pre Pro.

Overall another fine Canadian CF-18 by Hobby Master. A strong contender for Die-cast Model of the Year.

Highly recommended. A definite “Must Have”.
