I wasn't a fan of the (cigarette shaped) 777, but w/ a larger variety of the new tech finally showing up in one plane...I feel like buying every 777 that exists & then buy everyone that comes out for the 777x family

I'm gonna miss those lovely lady lumps on the 747, but man, that 777X looks like it's going to be a stellar aircraft. The interior just looks phenomenal, and those wings gigantic!

I've been thinking about this for a while.. When the 747s are finally gone that's when I'll probably stop collecting. Maybe even before then..

There's no stopping progress, but all these new airplanes are starting to look too much alike for me.

How much I miss seeing the same old 'boring 727s' every time I went to the airport!

why stop completely, 747s will always be released, look how props are still being released now.

From the beginning I wanted to confine my collection to an era (and to a mythical airport for which I've devised dioramas). So far that era stretches from roughly 2001 (post 911) to the present, and is still open-ended, but I want to cap it at some point... mostly due to time & space considerations. My collection is heavy on 747s and I've already got most of the liveries I might want. Large scale 747 retirements (especially mainline retirements) effectively close the chapter on my collection.

I really don't want to spend the money to rebuild it around a new generation of heavies.. You could say I don't have the same childhood connection to these I do to the older airplanes. You're probably right: I'm sure they will continue to release diecast 747s. But I think most of the major subjects have already been covered.

If I only had time and space for all my hobbies.. I never did understand all of these people who retire and become 'bored'.

I KNOW!! Those people have issues, they must have relied on work to get their self worth or esteem. I don't care if I did nothing everyday of the rest of my life, it's better than working a job you don't like!!!
