Trans Canada Airlines (TCA) Vickers Viscount 700 CF-THI
1/200 Scale
Released March 2018

Trans Canada Airlines (TCA), placed an order in 1952 for a total of 51 Vickers Viscount aircraft which were delivered between 1954 and 1959. The aircraft were adapted for cold-weather operations and served on domestic and trans border routes.
For TCA and Vickers, the Viscount was a public relations coup. Passengers loved the quiet ride and panoramic windows. No other airline in North America flew turbo-prop airliners then, and no other British aircraft was bought by American airlines in such quantity. TCA operated the Viscount for two decades until Air Canada ended Viscount services in 1974. The type was replaced by the McDonnell Douglas DC-9.

On the 19th of November 1969, when Air Canada was in the process of selling off the Viscount Fleet one aircraft, CF-THI was presented to the National Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa, where it remains preserved to this day in its original TCA livery. This is the subject aircraft released by Herpa.

The Herpa model is excellent. The polished metal surface and the extra detailed printing makes this a very special release. Even the de-ice surfaces on each individual propeller bade is provided. My model had no quality control issues and the paint and printing were flawless.
Highly recommended.
