  • Why are 1/500 models more rare for Asian airlines than European ones?

It seems that 1/500 models are hard to come by for Asian Airlines compared to European & North American ones. Does anyone know why? Cathay and Singapore like to keep theirs limited to inflight sales. What about Korean, ANA, JAL?

From what I understand, Cathay, ANA, Singapore and JAL are very protective of their brands. As such, they seem to prefer models only sold in house. Very similar situation with JetBlue and Frontier Airlines models. One point though- nearly all models in 1:500 are limited these days. With basically only Herpa left who is based in Germany, the majority of releases are European oriented. I am a mainly 1:500 collector and have been struggling with this sad realization.

Does anybody know what the current value of a Herpa 1/500 A300-600R in Korean Air c/s is please? I have one in original box in quite good condition, although the box has seen better days.

      Many thanks,
      Dave

I'm not kidding, the value of that model is around €250! This is one of the rarest and most expensive models in 1:500! (I was lucky to buy mine for only €11)
