I would like to share with you all, one of my favorite airframes of all time....
The Lockheed Tristar L1011-385-1-14.
This particular model was registered G-BBAE (Msn 193N-1083) and was delivered to British airways on 19/10/1974 named 'Stargazer Rose'. She was leased to British airtours on 21/04/1985 and was re-named 'Torbay'. British Airtours became Caledonian Airways and the aircraft was re-named again 'Loch Earne', on 14/04/1988. On 24/11/1988, Caledonian Airways sub-leased her to Worldways Airlines and was re-registered C-FCXB on the Canadian registry. She returned to Caledonian Airways as G-BBAE on 24/04/1989. A further lease was made to Worldways Airlines between 20/12/1989 and 10/04/1990, again as C-FCXB. After she returned to Caledonian Airways as G-BBAE, she was converted to Tristar 100 standard in May 1990. Cathay wet-leased her briefly in Jan/Feb 1993. Caledonian Airways finally purchased her on 31/03/1995 and she continued to serve with the airline until November 1999, when she was withdrawn from service and stored at Abu Dhabi. She was sold one last time to Avtec AG on 02.02/2002 and was used for spares. By September 2004 she had been scrapped.


The model is of G-BBAE in her British Airways livery (many thanks to Adrian for this one).

Love your BA collection Martin, and the Tristar looks bloody beautiful!!!
Must try and get one myself in BA scheme, All I have is 2 BB 747 Landors, and Negus 757 retirement 757 so far!

have to ask a dum question here, I assume those red engine covers just pop off??? I dont have a Tristar that has them hence why I ask. Would make a great maintenance scene with covers on thats for sure!!!

Thanks guys, the second Tristar in my collection is....
G-BBAI (Msn 193N-1102)
This Tristar started life with British Airways 04/02/1975 and was leased to British airtours on 01/07/1984, during that ownership of British airtours she was involved in a runway over-run, damaging her front landing gear and both engines at Leeds/ Bradford Airport.
