From the New York Times page (http://www.nytstore.com/1/1/1062-40-trimotor-ap452.html); This is a meticulously handcrafted model of the legendary Trimotor, nicknamed the "Tin Goose," a passenger and explorer plane first produced in 1925 by Henry Ford.
The Trimotor is part of an exceptional Times collection of museum-quality airplane models. Professional model makers design and build each airplane using frame-and-rib construction, just like real planes are produced. Built to scale, each model is accurate to the original plane and authentic to the time period. No better airplane model is on the market in this price range.
Our Trimotor, more than 100 hours in the making, has unrivaled details: corrugated aluminum sheet over wood frame, transparent windows with view of seating and cargo areas, authentic cockpit with miniature instrument panel, rubber tires that move, rotating propellers, realistic engines with riveted parts and struts. Comes with a silver stand. Perfect for collectors and an impressive gift.
