  • Very disapointed with DiMA "database"

I put "database", because it sucks. I don't know, how and by who are models submitted, but there's not control over. Looks like anyone could submit model with their liking - airline name...etc.... According to DiMA screwed up database, I don't have Atlas Air 744 model:

    Instead - I have some Sonair: http://www.diecastmodelaircraft.com/...6#.WI_G2fIkr4Y

....Do you see anywhere on the plane or box: "Sonair"? What kind of prick submitted that model into DiMA database under wrong Airline name? Just because plane was operated by Sonair?

Then, why Dreamlifters are under Boeing, not Atlas Air?
Maybe Atlas could be entered into database as Qantas?

Another - out of many issues I've encountered @ DiMA "database":

    Azerbaijan Airlines Boeing 787-8
    http://www.diecastmodelaircraft.com/...8#.WI_HHvIkr4Y

Why: "AZAL - Azerbaijan Airlines" instead of "Azerbaijan Airlines"

When wanting to organize my small collection - 135 models, I've struggled many times searching models I have. I think, DiMA is useless for aviation hobbyist - better to have own database made in Excel than going thru BS on DiMA

Unless, some could straighten things up and have some control about submitted planes.

Sorry you are frustrated, in general the folks here seem to be receptive to suggestions of changes. There's a way to report errors in the database. I think it would be more constructive to suggest ways to improve the search (as I have done) rather than saying it "sucks".

I agree there are some inconsistencies (eg. some models are listed as "TUIfly" and others as "TUIfly.com"). But as long as it's up to a single person, it is not too likely to be cleaned up as a priority. I've offered help a number of times...

I suppose Dreamlifters are listed as Boeing because Boeing owns them. Atlas Air merely operates them for Boeing, for the time being. Airfleets.net and airliners.net both list them under Boeing.

And I agree errors should be pointed out more politely, especially on a free site.

Blimey you are acting liker a wanker. So out of thousands of models you found two you didn't like. Get a grip! As long as there is consistency it doesn't really matter so AZAL - Azerbaijan Airlines is fine - it's hardly going to stop you finding the models is it - or can't you use a database search? Anyway AZAL is a common abbreviation of the name like SAS and TWA are so it is actually quite helpful to have it.

You have only 135 models and struggle - you must be some kind of imbecile. I have 1400+ and I haven't really had any issues at all. I agree with Siegerflieger that the Sonair listing is correct as is the Boeing Dreamlifter. The database isn't perfect and I too have offered to help but as a one man job its pretty good and you could have suggested improvements kindly rather than throwing your toys out of the pram.

Anyway good luck finding an alternative database, especially one that is free. Your childish attitude will not be missed.

The TUIfly issue has been fixed.

Thank you for your feedback. It will be submitted to our complaint department. You can expect to hear from them within 9000 days. If you do not hear from them by then please re-submit your complaint. Thank You.

P.S. If you can't figure out which airline is which you can easily search by the model registration number for the non-rocket scientists out there.

The whole database is screwed up and useless...When I couldn't find Azerbijan 787-8, I submitted with all required info entered, but my entry was rejected, because some "wise ***" entered it by call sign + airline name...another "wise ***", who rejected my submitted entry was just like first one bonehead - didn't bother to check/compare anything...., that models are searched on selling websites: By Airline - not Call Sign/Iata Code etc...
I have some 135 models and about 20% them I struggled to find... Here anyone submits models the way they want, no one checks anything - TOTAL MESS....Were there any guidelines about submitting models >>> Airline Name > Aircraft Type > Scale > Manufacturer > Reg #.... etc? How is possible for site calling "best" database, that there are numerous LH, numerous TNT....etc, etc airlines...not even talking for the rest.....

I was refered to this site by some very big model collector...Now, I gonna make my own datasbase for myself with all RIGHT info. For DiMA it takes ages to fix all **** created by some......

Are you retarded? Adding all info into a search when one piece didn't find the right thing is hardly going to return the result is it you plonker. You need to just add a small part then try the search.

Good luck making your own database - maybe you can get your mum to help you since you sound like a 5 year old

I've been using this database for years and it is by far the best one out there. Better to ask for fixes and offer to help clean it up then to complain about something that a ton of hard work and long hours goes in to maintaining, all volunteer as well.

If you don't like the database... then don't let the door hit you on the way out... I've been collecting for over 10 years and by far this is the best "database" I've seen and used, and I do SQL and Database work as a profession... If you do decide to get this "RIGHT" info database your gonna make on your own I wish you luck.

Don't go out of your way to troll about something you have not put one day of effort in just because you're having a bad day...

                        Good day sir.

Seems someones mom didn't love him, now he is angry at the world.

Joined March 2015 and only in January 2016 decided to throw his toys out the cot. Bit slow I should say.

Trolls gonna troll and haters gonna hate.

People are still hanging on at wings900 and DAC.. the admins are still promising "fixes" coming to the database.. Maybe some over there are finally realizing its a joke; they can't even get the model submit to work, nor does their entire admin system.. they are toast.
