just got this info:
Based on the experiences 16,663 Consumer Reports subscribers on 31,732 flights from January 2012 to January 2013. Reader score reflects respondents overall satisfaction with their most recent flight(s) and is not limited to the factors listed in the survey results. Respondents rated each leg of their round-trip flight when applicable. A score of 100 would mean all respondents were completely satisfied; 80 would mean very satisfied, on average; 60, fairly well satisfied; 40, somewhat dissatisfied. Differences of less than 3 points are not meaningful. Scores for check-in ease, cabin-crew service, cabin cleanliness, baggage handling, seating comfort, and in-flight entertainment are relative. Survey results represent the experiences of our subscribers but might not reflect the U.S. population as a whole.
Southwest was #2 beaten by Virgin America overall; Spirit Airlines was dead last! I think this is a bit embarrassing for other American carriers that the benchmark is set by a foreign air carrier.
this is also what Southwest has in it's favor:
