  • Lack of models from the Oceania region.

Has anyone noticed the lack of models from the Polynesia and Melanisia regions? While their have been a couple of recent releases by Phoenix of models from Fiji Airways and Air Calin with new liveries, that's about it. According to the Dima Database no company has produced any models from Air Vanuatu in !/400 scale. Also the only company to produce an Air Nuigini model in 1/400 scale was Aeroclassics, and that was years ago! No company has produced any models in any scale of the aircraft flown by Solomon Airways, the airline of the Solomon Islands, either. My fellow Aussie and Kiwi model collectors like collecting models from the airlines of our region, if the sales of models from my ebay store are anything to go by.
Now many of you will think the market in our region is too small to produce models for us. I draw your attention to the obscure airline Air Austral, I had never heard of this airline until I saw an Air Austral model offered on ebay. It's home is the tiny island of Reunion a French territory off the coast of southern Africa. Surely few people outside of France even know about this Airline, so the market for Gemini Jets recent release would be tiny at best. One last thing, does anyone really want any more models of Delta Airlines! Come on Gemini Jets, and others, how about something different for a change.

I'm with you on this. Air Vanuatu alone offers a number of opportunities. I think Aeroclassics may have done and Ansett/Air Van 737 some years ago. There are others though including the DC9 they once operated. I'm sure I have a Solomons 737 but may be wrong. Nevertheless there are many other opportunities. Perhaps the market for models from this region is too limited?
