  • Problems w/Herpa customer services

Hi all, I just wanted to know if you had issues with Herpa customer services replacing defective or broken aircraft models. I'm issue right now with them and it has been close to a few weeks now. That is with my LH748 Retrojet that just came out; my issue is a chipped wing tip. I showed them a picture of it. I am constantly having to badger them to get a final answer, which hasn't even happen. I don't know whether they're going to send me the replacement, that means I will have to rebuy when things could well have gone a bit smoother with these guys at the other end. Whatever issues with them you are experiencing or have experienced with them you please let me know.

Your retailer should really be your first point of contact.

Herpa do replace models, sometimes with little to no communication over it. Do they have your shipping address?

Which address did you write to? Did you get any reply at all?

I did exactly that and the response was vague. I asked them to cancel my claim and to tell them I am dissapointed since it doesn't look likely. Herpa seems to have defects 50% of the time. What's the reason?

Once I got a damaged HE 400 Aeroflot 777 and the HE customer service replaced it imediately. A+ to them at that time.

Good news. They got back to me to tell me that they have sent me the replacement model of my Lufthansa 747-8 Retrojet. It is only now they got it from the factory. However, I don't how Wafflecollectibles received it so early (where I had placed the order) if Herpa hadn't had it till now. Also, they were short staffed at their end on behalf of holiday time in Germany.

There must have been several batches. I got mine weeks ago also, so I assume they ran out at some point and received more now. I seem to remember the first models were distributed when the retrojet entered commercial service in April. Good to hear they eventually got back to you.

I just learned that Herpa no longer reply to inquiries to kd@herpa.de (except for an automatic reply). You have to submit requests to http://www.herpa.de/service now.

Hi there, Ithought I'd add my pennyworth..
it was herpa Customer Services that introduced me to the world of 1/400. Many years ago, I wrote to them asking for replacement undercarriage for a 1/500 TEA B737. They replied saying 'sorry we can't do that.. but here is a free & gratis EgyptAir B777' - looking very smart, and big.. The rest, as they say, is history.. and I still have it..)
