Can someone help me out here? I have as part of my collection of 1;400 models, a B 747sp of Saudi Arabian Airlines. Wanting to get as much info as I could on this plane, I came on Dima to get it, only to discover that there is no information regarding it, ie, no photos or fact sheet, and as far as I can make out, this model does not exist ! If that's the case, how come I've got it, and someone on ebay is selling one for $450.00 and I paid the sum of €55.00, which equals $60.50. It's allegedly made by Gemini Jets, and they seem to have no record of it either. Does anyone out there know anything about this model? Should anyone care to see it, you'll find it in my collection.Feel free to have a look, your more than welcome..

--There's one of three reasons you may not find the jet...
1. This plane could've been a limited release that was either distributed by the airline, or made for a specific promotion in which not that many units were made.
2. This plane could be made by Geminijets and sold under a different brand (GJ jets have interchanged molds with Phoenix, JC Wings and other brands) which could explain why you are not finding it.
3. (This one's my favorite) You probably do have an original model which could've been made but not distributed to the general public... (like a prototype, or pre-release)
I mean the database in DiMA is very open and you could always add this plane to the database and see if others who have it but were never able to add it can start to add it to their collection.

Thank you for your very quick response to my question. As far as I've been able to ascertain this model was made in a very limited edition of six for the flight crew of the first B747sp in the new colour scheme, which I believe is still current. How true that is, I've no idea.As for your suggestion that I put all the details, such as they are, up on the database with DiMA, sounds a great idea, but would the powers that be, allow me to?Comment

--The powers that be on this site are very open for the idea. We don't all know everything so whenever a model is missing from the database they are willing to add them. You can go in the database and click on the "Model Submit" tab and add all the information you have on this model and a few angle shots... From there either OpsManager or Waffle will add the model to the database and you will be all set to go.

--No problem Geoff, issues like this is why I love collecting. The one-offs like your Saudia give me hope that one day I will get a incredibly rare model that isn't in most databases. Keep that model man, you never know what the value will be in a couple of years..

I know or think it's quite rare, but the guy who sold it to me has no idea how rare it is considering the price I paid for it, and comparing it with the price a guy over in the States is asking for his, I got one hell of a bargain. Either I was very very, lucky or he is less than honest shall we say? There's a lot of difference between $55.00 and $450.00 I think you'll agree.All your information has been very helpful, many thanks.Comment

This one has the RR motors correct? Very rare indeed... As a 747 fan I would say you got a *steal*. I'd happily pay $60 for that.Comment

You're perfectly correct over the R.R. engines. I must admit she's a lovely item, and I feel very fortunate to have got it at the price I paid. It's one of the very few models I'm hanging on to come what may.
