      • Gday all, 0730 report..... Cloudy here, thunder storm with rain last night, very overcast here with scattered showers, temps in low 20's. Got to go collect some cheques from my lender, then go pay some bills with them, so a bit of running around to do today, all good tho.
I assume the sub div will commence shortly and will cover the developments as they occur on the start to finish thread!!!!
Hope everyone's well out there, im good, bit stressed with all the stuff going on the past few months, but we are now starting to make some ground and i guess it will be pretty full on from now on in!!!

        • Morning Steve, you once mentioned about termites around your area, so a brick built house is better, would that mean you have solid floors? otherwise wooden floor joists would get eaten? and would it also be safe to build brick for the lower half and a wooden upstairs level?

          • Hi Martin, my place atm is just over 50 years old, double brick and has wooden joists and floors.
I had to replace my kitchen about 18 yrs ago, as white ants had all but destroyed the cupboard near the sink, and also made some inroads on the very hard Meranti?? floorboards, some had to be replaced!!!!The kitchen was dated so it was a blessing in disguise, but it sure cost a lot of money, I also had to get the exterminator to cut inspection pits in floors and spray to kill them, also concrete/tiled/terrazo floors were drilled, and poison injected through the holes, cost 700 just for that, and with appliances, about 11 grand for the kitchen removal and all new cupboards fitted,
Roughly 12K all up. Almost all houses built now are concrete slab , no foundations!!! Timber floors would be laid on top of the slab, and by law all places built MUST be whiteant proofed at time of construction
wooden houses exist in adel, but most are old, doubt you would see a modern two storey with a wood 2nd level, all are brick to roof or a concrete type material which is rendered.

                      • well not quite, am and arent, solicitor has total control of money, he sends cheques to those doing sub div as reqd, so i dont physically see any money, at final settlement, then im free to do whatever i wanna do, with whats left over. I cannot access the money myself whatsoever, thats to stop people knikking off on world cruises, gambling it away and so on. Its all about the sale of the land, and clearing some debts, when I get settlement money, then im a free bird and have to invest it wisely.
