  • Is this an A340-500 or a Boeing 777-300ER?

    Hi,

I have found an old photo in my archive and I can't remember the plane type. It drives me crazy, but I am sure there are experts out there to help me.

This snapshot was on an Emirates flight from Vienna to Dubai in December 2011. I am now wondering was this an Airbus A340-500 (four engines) or a Boeing 777-300ER (two engines)?

Looks like a 777 to me. Here’s a similar view from an A345.

For a more competent answer, post on a spotters forum, or airliners.net

To add on, it looks like a 777 engine cowling, there's less space between the logo and the edge of the intake.

Reminds me I should look through all my old flight photos...

I was looking at the shape of the engine, but logo placement is a good indicator, too.

Very old thread, I know. But what a nice topic, I wonder if Spockie figured it out?

Anyway, looks like the B777-300ER to me.

Yes, thank you very much. You were all right, it was the B777-300ER.
