I know a collector of other things, that saves his purchases of smaller items, & ships them bulk to ZA. He saves them w/ a friend in the U.S. He says it's worth it, but i'm confused why you guys have to pay import tax? Obvious answer is that is the law, but it's so different then what i'm used to where i've never paid any tax of any kind for buying overseas.

May I ask you a very rude question sir? Why do you not post to Ireland? You have for sale a model in the 1;400 scale which I'd like to purchase but can't because you will not post here. Kind regards, Geoff

I pay no tax at all on any of my purchases. My problem is that a fair number of German sellers will not ship to Ireland so I have to ask a good friend of mine to buy them for me and ship them to me when he has about nine or more, and oddly he ships them to me for next to nothing whereas if I was able to bring them in, it would cost me megabucks. The only place I know of where you have to pay taxes of any sort is Guernsey, where the prices you pay are a bit more because the seller has to pay import and export taxes.

Do you know why German sellers won't ship to Ireland? Is it a tariff for buyers because they buy of out of country instead of Ireland? Ireland is part of the EU, so I'm confused why it cost more for you to bring them in...is it the Ireland postal system?

I'm only hazarding a guess here, but I think it's a lot to do with complaints from Ireland about postal charges out of Germany, the length of time it takes for the item to arrive, the fact that customs and excise like to take a peek to see what is being posted from time to time, that some of the packaging leaves buyers annoyed at the state some of the goods arrive in. In a word, who can blame the German sellers. If I buy from Germany, I have a friend who saves up my purchases and sends them to me in bulk. Oddly it works out cheaper to send nine planes in one go rather than send three at a time, 17 Euros for nine rather than 8 Euros for three.
