What series of 1011 or -10? What do you define as best? What liveries?

IF200 do a pretty good job these days with the DC10. I've yet to see a L1011 with the correct nose shape.

Pretty much have to agree, Inflight 200 does the best DC-10-10/30/40, even the L-1011-385-1/2/3 are good with the exception of the nose section being off kilter. Gemini Jets also produces a very well designed L-1011-385-1/2/3 mould and have just started producing MD-11's. Keep in mind that often times, Aviation 200 occasionally uses the Inflight 200 mould for the DC-10's, as well as Blue Box 200 and Retro Jets 200 (newer company). If you are going to collect "Tri-Jets", any of the above manufactures will do as not every company has released a model for every airline that has flown either aircraft; you will have to pick and choose between the various manufactures to assemble a collection of various airlines that have flown either model. Also, the majority of models already released have been sold out for quite some time now. On occasion, a couple of them will show up on eBay with a price tag double or triple of what you normally would have paid at a retail store online...a model's value to a collector is what you are willing to pay to acquire a particular model, be careful not to pay a ridiculous price for it as often times, another manufacturer will eventually release the same model a year or two down the road. Herpa Wings 200 models for the DC-10 are resin, not die-cast metal like their smaller aircraft. Just remember, you get what you paid for when it comes to die-cast metal vs. Resin.
