  • could search fields trim whitespace? - Enhancement Complete

    When I copy and paste a part # or registration #, I often accidentally get an extra space or some sort of invisible character pasted in there.
    for example
    Code:
    [URL="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?campid=5337223410&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F360946568817%3F_trksid%3Dp2055119.m1438.l2649%26amp%3BssPageName%3DSTRK%253AMEBIDX%253AIT"] G2AFR307 [/URL]
    and the database doesn't find anything. If the database uses php, I know there's a trim whitespace function that I used to use. There's probably something similar in whatever language you use.

    Also, it would be cool if the part # and reg # fields allowed commas between them and returned the list of results specified.

    thanks!

      Thanks for the feedback. I chose this sub forum because the descrption was "Questions, errors, ideas and comments about the database and collection system." tho it does seem that mega thread has a lot of requests/fixes. The title implies general how do you like it. Is it best to have everything rolled in to one thread for folks?

        yes, i forgot what the wording was for the thread. They used to have one or two other threads for feedback, but they consolidated to the one i posted. I also got used to seeing a lot of requests/fixes on the mega thread & assumed this would go there. I hope they can accomplish this request, fingers crossed.

      We can do this, specifically which fields are you putting data into?

        I pretty much only copy and paste in to the "part #" and "registration" fields on the advanced search page (usually from a retailer or ebay) to look up a model. but I could see somebody wanting to do this with the model id.

        also another idea, on the advanced search page have the airline and aircraft fields be autocomplete like the part # field. I think it's faster to type many of the airlines than to type the first two letters then scroll through all the airlines starting with "air" or whatever.

          If possible, to do them on all the field in the adv search page.
