• Well what a week it's been in terms of parcel delivery, one word: disaster! here's the goss from the shenanigans for the two weeks:

Well my good ol' mate the Postal delivery man (i call him Pat , he has a chuckle everytime i see him if i'm home when he delivers my parcels) told me about 3 weeks ago he was going away for 5 weeks, and that some replacement person was going to do the deliveries. I was like ok thanks for the heads up. I've never had a drama with him he's a top bloke, very reliable and does his job in a good manner, no rush, no problemo. I sometimes give him a tip for handling my parcels with care.

Well that same week Pat went away i bought a few models from a collector in Thailand on Wings900.com. I got a tracking number no worries, parcel on its way to my address. Fast forward a week and last week on Tuesday i receive a pick up card on my letterbox. This was on a day i was home. I was curious as to why I didn't hear the doorbell or knock on the door. Pat always did that and if i wasn't home he would leave the parcel on the porch behind some large pot plants so that they aren't easy to spot. But this new delivery person left a card, and didnt even bother knocking or ringing the bell . So on Wednesday I went to pick up the parcel at my local PO. Handed in the pick up card to the boys and they looked and looked. Came back after 15 minutes and said nope can't spot parcel can we grab your details. I'm like oh alright no worries, so you guys will ring me right?? they say yes tomorrow (thursday) you'll get a call. Thursday came and went, no call. Friday, no call. Ok so i let the weekend go and thought i'd def get a call Monday this week. No call. Alright, called Australia Post on Tuesday and asked what the go was. Apparently they have the parcel marked as being scanned in at my local PO, but suspect it's at the regional mail depot, as the 'fill in' delivery person scanned it at the PO but didn't leave it there and it went back to the depot . I called the PO and the boys said they haven't got the parcel and said that the delivery person was coming back each day with over 120 parcels not delivered and issued pick up cards to all those households... and the PO was being choked to the brim with parcels! *sigh* they told me they will chase my parcel and would be delivered this week.

So today thursday this morning i hear a van from my backyard veranda, i'm like that sounds promising, must be the parcel. No doorbell or knock, hear the van drive off, great! Went to the front door, and guess what, a BLOODY pick up card! with the same number of the parcel stranded. I like Fuuuuuuuu..... today was raining and i was not going to pick up the parcel from the PO again. But then an hour later i heard the doorbell ring, and funnily enough a different delivery person was delivering me another parcel, i told him the story, he's like you're kidding mate, i'm the delivery manager and i'm seriously going to have a word with this 'fill in' casual, bloody useless. He got my details and tracking number from the 2nd card, and within half hour told me the box is at the PO and he would definately deliver it to me personally tomorrow. I'm like THANK YOU!

I hope other residents in my area aren't going through the same drama. I mean if you get a job, do it properly and reliably. Ring the bell, knock on the door, how hard can that be?!?!? and you save so much hassle on others (i wouldn't want to know what the poor boys at the Post Office must be going through with stacks of parcels all over the place). Hopefully the manager straightened up this person.

So that's my rant lol, a happy ending at least! And Pat should be back in a week

• Hehe
Dave oh no mate but on a serious note, gosh it pisses you off, cause when you hear that your parcel is 'missing' you fear the worst. Particularly overseas parcels, like they made it all the way by plane, gone through Customs to be lost so close to home. The other thing i got peeved was when i called Aus Post they ask so much personal information like contacts, emails, family/relatives number etc and they never give you a proper answer to what you ask. I told them that time i rang to call the regional mail depot, and they were like no we can't because they are busy, we only send emails. I'm like oh great that's reliability right there. I asked the delivery manager of my parcel this morning, didn't have a clue and hadn't receive any email at the depot. I dunno, how hard can it be?!? lol
Glad he went searching for mine and gave me a call!

• Had something similar here. My Herpa/Inflgiht suppliers ships Canada Post. About 3 months ago they went to an new and improved system. NOT........I always get an e-mail invoice and that means parcel normally here in 3 days. It was on a day I had to do errands so waited in before going to errands. No mail man. next day card in mail box , checked on line an d attempted delivery around 12:00 funny Jo-Anne and I were both in waiting. Had to go to sub post office in a Shoppers Drug Store where they have the personality of a wet fish. Picked up ok. Next week another invoice e-mail. Once again Jo-Anne waited in and once again a delivery card. This time went to local post office and asked where are my parcels delivered from. THey gave me the depot they leave from. Went and talked to supervisor there. Most surprised since this is one their best delivery people. After talking to him parcels are now being delivered with no problem. The mail man actually appologized for the two screw ups. He is excuse made no sense but he was pleasant about admitting it was his mistake.

• im still waiting for a parcel from the UK sent about 4 weeks ago, hasnt arrived, but should turn up soon.

So the 'stranded' box and an extra one turned up today hoorah! xmas in July lol. I received a Hogan 1:400 Iberia A343 that i won on ebay, love the Hogan quality top notch, on similar lines to Phoenix, and the Thai purchases that include Phoenix Malaysia 777 Freedom of Space, Phoenix Tiger A320 and Dragon Thai A345. Bought these for AU$100 incl post, not a bad deal esp for the 777 Freedom of Space, that is going for around $50-$60 a pop on ebay. Great models, will have to dedicate some time this weekend to put some piccies up!

To the members that i sent some postcards and poster, i know i received some pm's that they arrived ok, and many thanks, just wondering if the others got theirs alright? Mark did the poster arrive at yours??

• Although not nice to see delays with customs etc. but glad to see we are not the only ones who have these type of problems. It is a shame when we are held at the mercy of people like this. Do they not know how important these models are to us.
