        • Interesting article I stumbled across on the Facebook page for Ansett.

          • Interesting, Ansett will live on in spirit for a long time in Australia, but if they do ever create a new business in the form of a resurected Ansett i hope it's done ethically and morally right. Ansett still means alot to the Australian public because of its history - and hence why the brand should be treated with a level of dignity and respect because of what its known for - an Australian aviation icon. It had very humble beginnings and grew its way from the ground up with the hard work and dedication of its founder and its employees who made Ansett the company that it once was. Hopefully history is never repeated in the way they managed the airline in the last few years where Ansett flew like a blind pigeon.

Diversity in the fleet was a killer too. But that's what made Ansett such an interesting airline to spot. 737's, A320's, S340's, Metro III's, 767's, Bae146's, F-28's, 747-300's, the list goes on. I hope if it is re-opened then as you said, it's done with respect, appropriation and better business planning. As long as it's not News Corp I have no objection to it.

              • Yup probably one of the few operators who had so much diversity, but costed them a leg and a foot to keep all em birdies flying around. I remember when Qantaslink hired many Ansett LAME's based in Sydney after the collapse and hearing the stories of lack of spares because of cost, and the pain with maintaining the 146's, they are a maintenance engineering nightmare!

                    • Well i had an up and down day today in our crazy model world! I basically purchased a Qantas 'All Red" B747 400 last week on eBay from a (model shop)seller in OZ. Today my package arrived, me all happy, opened it and what do you know! The wrong bloody model inside! Instead of my'Big Red", it was a DWQantas'Socceroos" B747 400, which i already have by GJ!!I was furious, so much so, that i skipped the eBay email crap, and called thesellers model shop direct! I basically told him what happened, and he said he would call me back etc etc.
<DIV></DIV>Anyway, approx 1 hour later, my mobile started ringing and he confirmed that while he was away, his worker placed the wrong model in the parcel and sent it! The correct model, which i paid forwas in his hands! Admitting that it was his stuff up, he has let me keep the "Socceroos B747 400, providing that i just pay postage $10aud for the correct model to be sent!
<DIV></DIV>So in the end, i think i have come out the winner!

                              • I will most likely just keep my GJ version! It is already on display, has been for over a year now. I tell you what, if he sends the wrong one again, then I'll be using the local pick up option! Because I'll be in Sydney in 2 weeks time!
