Yeah that'd be great. I could drive down and meet you up somewhere and you lead the way perhaps? I have a general idea of where you're talking about, it's that road that branches off from the newly built overpass on the Calder right? We just also need some inside info on when that flight is scheduled. Apparently they're getting rid of their 777's too... damn...

      • Yeah, the road that branches off, that takes you into farmland etc is the enterance. Then there are a few other roads that we need to go down, really easy and good.
<DIV>Let me know closer to the date, or else i will forget, and we will catch up. </DIV>

Great, I'll try my best to remember myself haha, I'm a bit forgetful too. Should see if any other members based in Melbourne are interested.

According to wikipedia and other sources, the plane will have its last flight on the 24th of March, YMML to WSSS

Extract from Wikipedia: "The last 747s are currently planned to be retired by 24 March 2012, with the last commercial flight to Melbourne Tullamarine Airport."

So we could all try and meet up then to see the bird off. SQ has one of the most suitable liveries for a 747 IMO. Here's to hoping that they get some 747-8's in the future, Freighter or not.

Oh will be a pity to see them go...

Also I ordered the Jet-X American Airlines MD80 1:400 the other day.

              • Today's weather (Monday): sunny but windy and chilly -5c. Went for a nature walk from 12:15-1:45pm, sighted lots of "feathered" birds, including one of my all-time favourites, a Northern Mockingbird. This guy is a perfect mimic and "mocks" (imitates) all other birds! Also sighted lots of pregnant squirrels.

I'm doing OH&S and hand skills for my Advanced Diploma of Aviation (RMIT) but I may be able to get an exemption as I've done it during my VCE for my cert II in Engineering.

Hope I still get to go next week. Just found the Airways Museum in Essendon Airport.

                  • I've been a bit busy recently hence not being so active on here but its good to see theres still been plenty going on! The reason is I'm currently writing my final year dissertation and its clearly taking up a lot of my time, finished my first 12,000 word draft last night so hopefully I won't have to make wholesale changes to it!
