That is quite the achievement. I dropped to 98.6% because of one person. They thought they had paid too much for shipping. I tried explaining that after the exchange rate and E-bay fees the difference was only $1.50 but that didn't seem to satisfy him and he left negative feedback about shipping charges.

--I guess good news Mark about not having to work nights to do stock inventory! My experience with night work was working on Darwin airport in AUG 1984 as a trainee Lines man, The night work we did was re locating the T-VASIS landing system lights beside the main runway. Due to the busy movements of domestic and some INTL's, also military aircraft, we could only work at night. Trenches for the cables had to be about 5-ft deep, and cables laid in trench, then 2 ft of soil, then aluminium strip a few inches wideplaced on top, when the strip off the huge roll ran out, the join to the next strip had to be rivetted together, and away you go again, another layer of soil, say 2 ft, then Yellow warning tape was laid across the top(Bit like crime scene ribbon-tape the police use) and the the trench finally backfilled and compacted! periodic concrete slabs-small, also warning of cables below also had to be placed every 50 metres or so had to be embedded at ground level!! Did this for 2 weeks, sleeping was hard for me during daylight, and the humidity and temps up there were very taxing (I left Adelaide airport on a Monday morning, it was 8c, arrived Darwin, 32c, just 3.5 hrs later!!)
We finished the job in 2 weeks, and we got outa there before the wet season started!!! Glad I missed that!!
Wonder if anyone has guessed why aluminium strip is laid in the trench over the electrical cables?????

--<div></div><div>Yeah i've had to work with some customers who have left negative feedback straight away without contacting me, critism on ebay for sellers can be harsh an quite unjust yet buyers especially those that don't pay and ruin auctions get off scott free. But theres not much of an alternative at the end of the day.</div>Originally posted by Aviation DelightOriginally posted by MAC Admin

Well heres the answer jase!!!!!!!
Darwin airport has the highest by far of direct LIGHTNING HITS than any other airport in Australia!!!!!
By having the cables buried deep, insulated by soil, then aluminium strip over the top, then more soil, then warning strip, then more soil, the cables are protected from future earthworks as machine-digger operator would uncover the warning strip first, then if digging deeper, would then snag the aluminium strip.
The MAIN purpose of the aluminium strip is when lighning hits ground level, it continues deeper into the soil, earths out on the aluminium strip and dissipitates harmlessly and well clear of the cables a further 2 foot below!!!
most other airports just bury the cable with no aluminium strip!!!!! just so many times cables had to be repaired/replaced, it was decided aluminium strip would be used to help shield the cables, and rarely after, would a cable need to be repaired if ever.Quite a simple solution to a once regular problem they had there!

--Cloudy with sunny patches mate, quite pleasant with a gentle breeze, low 20's atm.
just got back from a small shopping trip, found at last Masterfoods Sweet n sour sauce, love it on chick nuggets and asian savoury snacks, stupid supermarkets near me dont stock it- crazy!!! So travelled a few K's and finally found it! 2 jars i got, also got sesame oil, Pickled calamari rings-delish, and small crab meat-prob little crab meat in a ring, had it before, its nice!! weird how some supermarkets stock really nice things I like, and would buy regular, but I gotta make an 8km round trip to get them!!!
Damn frustrating!
